Objectives:
The basic objectives that will be pursued this year are the appreciation and enjoyment of literature and the development of clear written and oral communication skills.
Assignments:
Formal written assignments must be presented with a title page and be submitted on time, at the beginning of class. The work should be typed or written neatly. 10% will be deducted from work handed in one day late; after that time, a “0” will be given.
Oral presentation:
Students in Grade 10 are expected to write and deliver an original 5-7 minute speech. This constitutes 25-30% of the Term 2 mark.
Evaluation:
The process of continuous evaluation is used. The student’s mark will reflect the quality of his/her written assignments, achievements on tests, as well as class participation. Examinations will be written in December and June.
